Job summary

Acorn Training Ltd. is seeking a Functional Skills English and Maths Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching from entry level through Level 2 across the Midlands, with remote delivery as required.

The role requires a full driving licence and the ability to work across centres and remotely. You will assess learners, plan and deliver engaging sessions, track progress, provide feedback, and collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum.

Qualifications

• Minimum of A-level or equivalent in English.
• Minimum of A-level or equivalent in Mathematics.
• Qualified teacher status (Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS) or a commitment to obtaining it.
• Full, clean driving licence for business use.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with curriculum requirements and individual learner needs.
• Assess learners’ English and Mathematics, identifying areas for improvement and tailoring teaching methods accordingly.
• Develop and deliver engaging and interactive sessions using a variety of teaching techniques and resources to enhance learner understanding and engagement.
• Provide individualised support to learners, addressing specific learning needs through one-on-one meetings and additional learning resources.
• Monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness.
• Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in English and Mathematics.
• Communicate regularly with learners, employers, and relevant stakeholders to provide updates on progress and address concerns.
• Stay up to date with developments in English, and Mathematics education, curriculum changes, and teaching methodologies to continuously improve teaching standards.
