Job summary

sjb medical in Hounslow is seeking a Functional Assessor who will use clinical expertise to assess how health conditions affect daily living and work ability. The role combines medical knowledge with compassionate patient interaction, contributing to the benefits assessment process and supporting individuals.

You will perform face-to-face and remote assessments, gather histories, and produce accurate reports for the Department for Work and Pensions, while working within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Registered healthcare professional with UK post-registration experience.

About the role

As a Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical expertise to assess how health conditions impact people's daily lives and ability to work. It's a role that blends medical knowledge with meaningful human connection - giving you the chance to support individuals while contributing to a fair and compassionate benefits system.

You'll carry out assessments both face-to-face and via video or phone, taking detailed medical histories and conducting physical examinations. Your findings will help inform accurate, high-quality reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You'll be trusted to work independently, but you'll also be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team that values collaboration and continuous learning.

• A registered Nurse, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist or Physiotherapist with at least 12 months' post-registration UK experience
• Confident in clinical decision-making, with a strong understanding of functional assessment
• Skilled communicator, able to build trust and ask the right questions
• Digitally capable, with experience using clinical software and systems
• Self-motivated and organised, with a focus on quality and integrity
• Team-oriented, ready to support colleagues and contribute to a positive working culture
