iGo Recruitment is hiring Functional Assessors in Hitchin to conduct WCA health assessments for RGNs, RMNs and RNLDs. The role is hybrid, combining home and Hitchin centre work, with a standard 9am-5pm schedule from Monday to Friday.
You will complete structured assessments, review medical evidence, and write clear reports for the Department for Work and Pensions. This is an assessment and report-writing role, not hands-on clinical treatment, with training provided.
Full‑time roles are available, and part‑time applications may also be considered.
We are recruiting Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN and RNLD), Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists for permanent Functional Assessor opportunities in Hitchin, completing Work Capability Assessment (WCA) functional health assessments.
The role is also commonly known as a Nurse Assessor, Disability Assessor, Clinical Assessor or WCA Assessor.
You will complete structured assessments, review medical evidence and produce clear, evidence‑based reports for the Department for Work and Pensions. This is an assessment and report‑writing role rather than a hands‑on clinical treatment position.
You will explore how a person’s physical or mental health condition affects their functional capability for work or work‑related activity.
Assessments may take place by telephone, online video appointment or face‑to‑face at the Hitchin assessment centre. You will gather accurate information through structured questioning, apply your clinical knowledge and professional judgement, and produce clear, concise and evidence‑based reports.
This is a report‑writing role as much as an assessment role. A significant part of the working day involves gathering detailed information, using IT systems and producing structured written reports.
You will not provide treatment, make medical diagnoses, give medical advice or make the final decision on benefit entitlement.
This is a permanent hybrid role based between home and the Hitchin assessment centre at SG5 1LL.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with no nights, weekends or rotating shifts. Full‑time roles are available, and part‑time applications may also be considered. The vacancy is not fully remote.
You will complete a comprehensive, full‑time training programme before undertaking assessments independently.
Part‑time applicants must be available for the initial full‑time training period before moving to their agreed part‑time hours.
The salary is £50,000.
