Job summary

sjb medical is seeking a dedicated Functional Assessor in the London area to apply clinical expertise in assessing how health conditions affect daily living and work capability.

The role involves face-to-face, video or telephone assessments, taking detailed histories and producing high-quality reports for the DWP. You will work independently within a supportive multidisciplinary team and have opportunities for professional development and a strong work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Qualified healthcare professional with UK registration and at least 12 months post-registration experience.
• Strong clinical decision-making and understanding of functional assessment.
• Excellent communication and empathy in patient interaction.
• Proficient with clinical software and systems.
• Organised, self-motivated and collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Assess health conditions and their impact on daily living and work capability.
• Take detailed medical histories and conduct appropriate physical examinations.
• Prepare high-quality reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

About the role

As a Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical expertise to assess how health conditions impact people's daily lives and ability to work. It's a role that blends medical knowledge with meaningful human connection - giving you the chance to support individuals while contributing to a fair and compassionate benefits system.

• A registered Nurse, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist or Physiotherapist with at least 12 months' post-registration UK experience

• Digitally capable, with experience using clinical software and systems
• Self-motivated and organised, with a focus on quality and integrity
