Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a committed full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a rural Hassocks school. The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:55, term-time, starting in September.

A driving licence is required due to limited public transport links. The ideal candidate has 3–6 months in a school setting or SEN/SEMH support, with transferable skills from care or youth work considered.

Qualifications

• 3–6 months of experience in a school setting or SEN/SEMH support.
• Transferable skills from care, youth work, or similar backgrounds are welcomed.
• Must be available for full-time hours for the entire academic year starting in September.
• Must be a licensed driver with access to a vehicle due to the rural location and limited public transport links.
• Salary: £88–£97 per day. This is a temporary/temporary to permanent role after a probation period.
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM – 03:55 PM, term time.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with diverse learning and behavioural needs.
• Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored IEPs.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Help manage classroom behaviour gently and effectively, promoting emotional well-being.
• Monitor and report on student progress, collaborating closely with teaching staff.
