Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a friendly, community primary school in Ashton-under-Lyne on a full-time basis. You will support primary-aged pupils with SEMH and SEN needs, helping them feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

The role involves working one-to-one, in small groups and in the classroom, collaborating with the class teacher, the SENCO and the HLTA, and maintaining accurate records. DBS checks are part of safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEMH and SEN in a primary setting.
• Patient and encouraging approach, helping children feel safe.
• Safeguarding checks including enhanced DBS are required.

Responsibilities

• Support SEMH/SEN pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
• Build trusting relationships to help pupils learn.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and HLTA to implement plans.
• Help pupils manage emotions, routines and transitions during the day.
• Record behaviour, progress and incidents in line with school policy.
