Job summary

Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking Healthcare Support Workers to join the team at St Martins Hospital Canterbury. You will assist adults with acute mental health needs, supporting daily activities and recovery under supervision. The role includes shift work to cover 24 hours, 7 days a week.

You will be involved in documentation, health checks and patient activity, contributing to a safe and caring environment. This is a full-time post within our multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Providing support and advice to patients, recording care on RiO and validating entries.
• Carrying out physical health checks and documenting them on NEWS charts, reporting changes to the nurse in charge.
• Supporting therapeutic observation checks as required.
• Escorting patients to appointments and leave as requested.
• Taking the lead in a ward area such as Wellbeing, Health & Safety or Patient Activity.
• Undertaking required training and participating in supervision and appraisal.
• Working a full range of shifts covering a 24-hour period, including twilight and night shifts, with potential work at other Trust sites.
