GSL Education are currently seeking a confident and enthusiastic individual to join a vibrant secondary school in Gosport as a Cover Supervisor (CS). This full-time role is ideal for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, or experienced education professionals who are keen to gain hands-on classroom experience across a range of subjects and year groups.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will step into the classroom to deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of teaching staff. You will ensure students remain focused on their learning objectives and maintain high standards of behaviour. This may include covering for teacher illness, PPA time, or release time for Early Career Teachers.

You’ll be supporting Key Stages 3 and 4 across a variety of subjects, helping to maintain continuity in pupils’ education and ensuring lessons remain purposeful and productive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver pre-set lesson plans to classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Ensure pupils stay engaged and on task during lessons.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive learning environment.
• Provide support to students when needed and report any issues to senior staff.
• Ensure all completed work is collected and feedback passed on to teaching staff.
• Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a secondary school setting or with young people is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people.
• Confident managing behaviour and leading a class independently.
• Flexible and adaptable to work across different subjects and year groups.
• A passion for education and a commitment to supporting student progress.
• Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
