Position: Full-Time Cover Supervisor (Secondary School)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dynamic and confident Cover Supervisor (CS) to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton. This full-time position is set to begin in September and is ideal for individuals who are looking to pursue a career in education or gain hands-on experience in a school setting.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will be responsible for maintaining continuity in students’ education during teacher absences. You’ll deliver pre-planned lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure that students remain focused and engaged throughout the school day.

This role offers the opportunity to work across all subjects and a wide range of year groups within Key Stages 3 and 4. Whether covering PPA sessions, teacher illness, or supporting ECT release time, you’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the school’s daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and deliver set lessons across the curriculum.
• Ensure pupils stay on task and meet learning objectives.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school expectations.
• Offer guidance and support to pupils during lessons where necessary.
• Liaise with teaching staff regarding pupil progress and class activities.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and contribute to a positive school environment.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a secondary school setting or with young people is desirable.
• Confident in managing a classroom and engaging pupils.
• Flexible and able to adapt to various subjects and year groups.
• A proactive, calm, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Have anupdated CV(covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
