Job summary

Care By Us Welham Green is hiring Care & Community Support Workers for the Preventative Breaks Service across Hertfordshire. You’ll support people in their own homes, giving unpaid carers time to rest, attend appointments, or focus on their wellbeing. Full-time, 40 hours per week, £13.51 per hour.

You’ll drive throughout Hertfordshire, must have a valid licence, own vehicle, and be comfortable travelling. Six-month fixed-term ending April 2027, with opportunity to become permanent; mileage 45p

Qualifications

• Availability to work 40 contracted hours per week.
• A driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work.
• Willingness to travel across Hertfordshire.
• A caring, respectful and approachable manner.
• Confidence communicating with people from different backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently, with support from your team.
• A proactive approach to community engagement and promoting the service.
• Reliability, organisation and flexibility as service needs change.
• Willingness to learn and provide care in line with individual care plans.
• The existing right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide care reflecting each person’s needs, preferences and routines.
• Offer companionship, conversation and meaningful activities.
• Support personal care while maintaining dignity and privacy.
• Help people feel safe and reassured when their carer is away.
• Encourage independence and help people do what they can themselves.
• Listen for wellbeing changes and report concerns to the team.
• Keep accurate records and communicate with carers and colleagues.
• Raise awareness of the Preventative Breaks Service at local events.
