Bourn is looking for an engineer who owns end-to-end features across lending, payments, billing and vendor management, with strong TypeScript/Node fundamentals. You’ll move between backend, frontend and infrastructure, from API and event design to the user experience, and you may build a NestJS microservice one day and a Next.js portal the next.
The role spans data integrations with banks and fintechs, banking APIs, and real-time workflows, as you connect financial data and AI-enabled processes
We're looking for an engineer who wants ownership, a fast-moving environment and interesting problems to solve. Bring strong TypeScript/Node fundamentals, curiosity and a willingness to move between backend, frontend and infrastructure. The scope runs from customer-facing portals to bank integrations, event-driven workflows and AI-enabled financial products.
Build and own features across lending, payments, billing and vendor management, from API and event design through to the user experience. You might build a NestJS microservice one day, a lender portal in Next.js the next, then connect the whole workflow through Kafka.
Integrate financial-data providers to support data aggregation, credit decisioning and better lending products. Work with Tier 1 banks, fintechs and specialist providers on banking APIs, payments, account infrastructure and transaction monitoring.
Expect boutique, bespoke integrations as well as familiar APIs: bank-specific requirements and the entertaining edge cases that appear when software meets real money.
Work with LLMs, agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) clients and servers. Build authenticated tool interfaces, expose financial capabilities with appropriate access controls, and help connect financial data and AI-driven lending decisions to reliable, explainable production workflows.
We're a small engineering organisation with real autonomy, short feedback loops and direct access to product, finance and commercial stakeholders. You'll take a problem, understand what the business needs, challenge assumptions, design a sensible solution and get it into production.
We like quick prototypes, useful feedback and engineers who ship. We also build financial infrastructure: reliability, idempotency, security, observability and good automated testing matter when your code can move money.
AI is part of how we build. Use it to investigate unfamiliar systems, prototype ideas, write and review code, and tackle bigger problems. Bring your own engineering judgement to the result. You build it, understand it and help operate it.
Strong TypeScript/Node engineering fundamentals, sound judgement and the ability to learn quickly matter more than experience with any particular tool.
Bring your curiosity. Build things that matter.
