Job summary

JPMorganChase in the United Kingdom (Glasgow) is seeking a Software Engineer II to join a dynamic, agile team focused on payments technology within Commercial & Investment Bank. You’ll design, develop, and troubleshoot software components, contributing to secure, scalable enterprise solutions.

You will work across the full SDLC, employing modern languages, AI-assisted tools, and best practices for secure code. Collaboration and continuous improvement are core to the role.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Hands-on experience in system design, development and operational stability.
• Experience coding in modern languages and querying databases.
• Ability to code in one or more languages.
• Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle.
• Exposure to agile methodologies and security practices.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Execute software solutions through design, development, and troubleshooting across multiple components.
• Write secure, high-quality code using at least one language with limited guidance.
• Design, develop, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream/downstream systems.
• Analyze large datasets to identify problems and support decision-making.
• Learn and apply SDLC processes and best practices for secure, stable code and systems.
• Contribute to a team culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect.
• Leverage enterprise AI coding tools to improve code quality under peer review.
