Job summary

Volter, London-based, seeks a Senior Full-Stack Engineer for a 6-month contract. You’ll own end-to-end delivery across the stack, building customer interfaces and backend services, APIs and data-powered features.

💼 Role: Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer for a 6-month contract to join our small, fast-moving team here at Volter.

As a key member of the team, you'll own end-to-end delivery of product features across the stack, building both customer-facing interfaces and the backend services, APIs and data-powered functionality behind them.

You’ll work closely with founders, engineers, data scientists and commercial teams to solve complex problems and ship customer- and internal-facing features at high velocity — days, not weeks — while laying pragmatic, scalable foundations for our supply operations across pricing, billing and data ingestion.

🧩 What experience you bring

We’re looking for strong software engineers who are excited by the idea of building and owning something from the very beginning. We’re open to different levels of experience, and the scope of the role will be calibrated to the individual.

Core experience

• Strong experience building and operating production software, ideally as a Full Stack Engineer with strong backend skills

• Strong proficiency across the stack: backend (ideally Go and/or Python) and frontend (ideally TypeScript and React)

• Comfortable working with data-intensive features, architectures and systems, with an appetite to keep improving how we scale them

• Proficient with data: schema design, query optimisation and data modelling, including time-series data

• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs; event-driven patterns and background workers

• Cloud deployment with cloud providers; infrastructure-as-code (we use Terraform) and CI/CD

• Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, code reviews, reliability/observability, performance and security-by-default
