We help businesses get the funds they need, when they need it, often within minutes. We’ve already made several billion in funding available to more than 100,000 businesses since we launched in 2012, and positioned ourselves as a leading Fintech in Europe.

Our mission is to finance one million businesses. We’ll get there by continuing to make our finance ever more relevant and accessible to more businesses by combining cutting-edge technology, data science, and a 5-star customer service.

The team

The Fraud team is a new team within iwoca, and owns iwoca’s strategy and tech systems against fraud. The team balances robust fraud prevention with an exceptional customer experience and strong conversion rates. The team is growing, and currently consists of a principal full-stack engineer and a Team Lead.

The role

We need a full-stack engineer to join the growing Fraud team, to help significantly restructure and simplify iwoca’s fraud systems. This is a high-growth role, with a view that you will grow to take on technical leadership of the team.

Ownership and influence

  • Design and build iwoca’s new fraud system, to achieve a balance between fraud prevention and customer experience.
  • Take ownership of the solutions that feed into this system, covering both in-built capabilities and third-party integrations.
  • Use data to identify opportunities and measure improvements to our systems and processes.

Collaboration

  • Work with product, analytics and strategy team members to ensure technical solutions align with iwoca’s overall fraud strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineers within other parts of iwoca, such as our Operations, Customer Funnel, and Credit Risk teams, to drive fraud tech changes forwards.

Growth and progression

  • Progress to becoming the team’s technical lead within 6-9 months.

The requirements

Essential:

  • Back-end development experience, ideally with Python.
  • Front-end development experience with TypeScript.
  • Experience with Django, PostgreSQL, and designing, building, and managing relational databases.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.

Bonus:

  • Experience working with third-party integrations.
  • React framework experience.
  • A strong numerical academic background, i.e. maths, physics, computer science, engineering, or similar.
  • An understanding of data analysis and statistics.

The salary

We expect to pay from £60,000 - £70,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.

  • Medical insurance from Vitality, including discounted gym membership.
  • A private GP service (separate from Vitality) for you, your partner, and your dependents.
  • 25 days’ holiday, an extra day off for your birthday, the option to buy or sell an additional five days of annual leave, and unlimited unpaid leave.
  • A one-month, fully paid sabbatical after four years.
  • Instant access to external counselling and therapy sessions for team members that need emotional or mental health support.
  • 3% pension contributions on total earnings.
  • An employee equity incentive scheme.
  • Generous parental leave and a nursery tax benefit scheme to help you save money.
