Job summary

Leapfrog Recruitment Consultants is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a 6-9 month temporary assignment in the UK. You will oversee the finance function, lead a small team and work closely with senior stakeholders, delivering year-end reporting, budgets and audit preparation.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with strong management accounting and financial controls experience, available to start before December and able to hand over smoothly.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with substantial financial and management accounting experience.
• Experience with annual reports, year-end, budgeting, and internal controls is essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of the finance function.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.
• Produce monthly management accounts and senior management reporting.
• Prepare draft annual financial statements and year-end audit information.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Support the completion of financial statements for the Annual Report.
• Prepare and monitor annual and ad-hoc budgets.
• Manage cashflow, banking and relevant financial controls.
• Review payroll reports and oversee salary payments.
• Maintain accurate General Ledger, capital expenditure and fixed asset information.
• Provide financial analysis and support to senior leadership.
• Ensure finance policies, procedures and internal controls are followed.
• Manage and support a small finance team.
• Maintain high-quality financial delivery throughout the temporary assignment.

Job description

Bring your Financial Controller experience to a 6-9 month temporary role with a broad and varied remit. You\'ll oversee annual accounts, management reporting, budgets, controls and audit activity while managing a small finance team at Assistant Director level. The role would particularly suit an experienced contractor available at relatively short notice.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with substantial financial and management accounting experience, including previous responsibility for annual reports and accounts. You\'ll be comfortable operating at Financial Controller/Assistant Director level, taking ownership of a broad finance remit while managing a small team and working directly with senior stakeholders. Strong experience of year-end reporting, budgeting, audit and financial controls is essential, together with the ability to quickly understand existing systems and processes and provide continuity from the outset. As this is a 6-9 month temporary assignment, you\'ll need to be available to start before December, with sufficient time to complete a handover.
