Job description

Take the lead on a varied finance function in this Assistant Director-level opportunity. From annual financial statements and management accounts to budgets, cashflow and team development, you'll have oversight of the key financial processes supporting the organisation. The role requires someone who can join before December and quickly build an understanding of the business.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control processes.
  • Produce monthly management accounts and provide meaningful financial reporting and commentary to senior management.
  • Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger and oversee relevant reconciliations.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements and supporting audit documentation.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and support the annual audit process.
  • Coordinate the finalisation of financial statements for inclusion within the Annual Report.
  • Prepare annual and ad-hoc budgets and monitor actual and anticipated expenditure against budget.
  • Maintain cashflow and oversee electronic banking arrangements.
  • Review monthly payroll reports and oversee salary payments.
  • Maintain accurate capital expenditure and fixed asset records.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and governance requirements are followed.
  • Provide financial support and advice to senior leadership.
  • Manage, support and develop the finance team, including appraisals, coaching and training.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance systems, procedures and controls.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong financial and management accounting experience and, importantly, previous responsibility for annual reports and accounts. You'll have the technical and leadership capability to operate at Assistant Director level, managing and developing a small finance team while working confidently with senior stakeholders. Strong budgeting, financial reporting, audit and internal control experience will be important, alongside excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills. You'll also need to be available to start before December to complete an appropriate handover, meaning candidates with a notice period of three months or more unfortunately cannot currently be considered.
