Job Description

Job Purpose:

Under the guidance of the Chef De Partie, perform the daily execution of all assigned Line Cook duties. Ensure high-quality food is served consistently. Handle all aspects of your assigned station, including setup, stock, cooking, presentation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment and tools. Have fun and make friends!

Duties & Functions:

  • Support and love your team!
  • Take care of guests!
  • Communicate politely and positively, saying “yes” and “thank you” often!
  • Pay strong attention to detail.
  • Be adaptable to change and an evolving environment.
  • Rotate products on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Maintain knowledge of food products and culinary techniques.
  • Identify and safely operate all kitchen equipment.
  • Restock supplies regularly.
  • Label and date all products for safety and sanitation.
  • Apply basic knife skills and follow recipes accurately.
  • Maintain menu knowledge and focus on plate presentation.
  • Be versatile with hot and cold items.
  • Understand and apply various cooking techniques.
  • Prepare base sauces, stocks, and soups.
  • Work as part of a team, assisting others as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with management and chefs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Use hands and arms continuously.
  • Work with urgency.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly and positively with team members.
  • Remain calm during busy or emergency situations.
  • Make decisions based on experience and good judgment.

Operational Compliance

  • Follow policies on health and safety, food hygiene, maintenance, emergency procedures, and liquor licensing.

Supportive Functions

  • Attend meetings and participate in community events.
  • Use software like Microsoft Office, Micros, ADP, and Open Table.
  • Keep work area organized and secure confidential documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate leadership and ensure policy compliance.

Other Duties

Support SLS’s culture, participate in all elements, and maintain attendance standards. Be flexible with working hours based on business needs.

Safety Requirements

Use PPE as required. Report any defective equipment. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment.

Grooming/Uniforms

Maintain a neat, clean appearance and adhere to uniform guidelines.

Other

Additional language skills are preferred.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • At least one year of kitchen or fast-food production experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years in a customer-facing role, preferably in an upscale hotel.
  • Friendly, hospitable personality.
  • Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive relationships with colleagues and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand or walk for at least eight hours.
  • Quick to respond and handle stressful situations.
  • Physical ability to twist, reach, bend, climb, and carry objects.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed.
