Job summary

Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Waste Collection Driver to join the frontline Waste Management and Street Cleansing team in Sefton. You will drive an RCV on scheduled routes, perform routine vehicle checks, and assist with loading duties to support reliable waste collection services for residents and businesses.

Qualifications

• Experience driving a large refuse collection vehicle (RCV).
• Ability to carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather and physically active.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and customer service.
• Good teamwork with loaders and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate an RCV on scheduled routes.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Work with loaders to complete collections to high standards.
• Handle bins and waste containers safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, traffic laws, and service procedures.
• Provide polite and professional customer service to the public.
• Support additional tasks such as bulky waste or street cleansing when required.
