Job summary

Connect2Halton is seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Duty and Assessment Team in Widnes. You will identify and assess levels of risk and need, delivering protective or supportive services for children at risk, with potential allocation to the Child in Need team for longer‑term support.

You will work with children, families and partner agencies to ensure timely intervention, produce high‑quality assessments, undertake home visits and maintain safeguarding standards across

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with Degree/Diploma in Social Work.
• Registration with Social Work England.
• 3 years permanent experience.
• Experience in a Duty and Assessment team or similar front‑line social work.
• Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding and social work legislation.
• Ability to manage a complex caseload effectively while maintaining high‑quality practice standards.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Car for work purposes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments.
• Manage a varied caseload of children and families in need of support.
• Work collaboratively with multi‑agency professionals to safeguard children.
• Undertake home visits, build rapport with families, and ensure appropriate interventions are put in place.
• Produce high‑quality assessments and reports for management and court purposes.
• Respond swiftly to referrals, assessing risk and need to ensure timely and effective interventions.
