Job summary

The Home Office in the United Kingdom is seeking a Security Officer to join the Corporate Services group. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring security procedures are followed and information is effectively communicated.

The role requires full-time shifts, including early starts and night/overnight coverage. Training is provided on the job, with mentoring and team support to build confidence and competence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and absorb information and implement what is read.
• Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to brief colleagues and plan ahead.

Responsibilities

• Control access & egress to HO buildings in line with security policies.
• Deal with conflict calmly using training and best practices.
• Conduct internal and external patrols with vigilance.
• Complete all written work accurately and legibly.
• Produce comprehensive incident reports promptly and accurately.
• Follow Home Office Pass Policy for visitors and contractors.
• Search vehicles and individuals as required per procedures.
• Report and record incidents, accommodation and health & safety issues.
• Respond to alarms in accordance with policy.
