Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Limited is seeking an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) in Essex to support high-risk victims, assess risk, develop safety plans and coordinate multi-agency help.

You will work Monday–Friday with one day in the office, performing frontline advocacy, safeguarding, and accurate case recording, reporting to the IDVA Service Manager. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable victims and managing a caseload.
• Strong understanding of domestic abuse, safeguarding and risk management.
• Experience working within a multi‑agency environment.
• Excellent communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Strong crisis-management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
• SafeLives IDVA qualification or equivalent experience/qualification, or willingness to undertake the required training.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of high-risk domestic abuse cases.
• Complete risk assessments and develop individual safety plans.
• Provide practical, emotional and crisis support to victims and their children.
• Advocate for clients with housing, health, legal, financial and other support services.
• Work closely with partner agencies and contribute to MARAC meetings.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
• Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection and information-sharing procedures.
• Empower clients to make informed decisions and regain control of their lives.
