Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a Housing Assessment & Advice Manager to lead the Assessment & Advice team within the Housing Needs, Advice & Support Service. The role is permanent, 37 hours per week, with a salary of £40,443 - £44,252 p.a.

You will manage a multi-disciplinary team of around 30 staff, ensure frontline service delivery, support vulnerable customers, and work to fulfil housing allocation policy and statutory rehousing duties in line with service standards.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a challenging front line service.
• Ability to support and manage staff dealing with vulnerable customers.
• Experience within legislative framework for homeless decisions.
• Understanding of private rented sector and tenancy law.
• Budget management experience.
• Leadership to motivate and develop a team.
• Clear communication and ability to interpret legislation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of the HAAM team.
• Line manage approximately 30 FTE direct reports.
• Ensure service delivery meets housing allocation policy and rehousing duties.
• Develop staff through training and coaching.
• Collaborate with partners to resolve housing issues.
