Job summary

Bradford Council is looking for an Enforcement Officer in the Environmental Enforcement Team on a 37-hour week. You will respond to fly tipping, littering, dog fouling and waste offences, and take formal action including fixed penalty notices and prosecution files.

The role includes CCTV surveillance, targeting hotspots and joint operations with West Yorkshire Police. A full UK driving licence with business-use insurance and fluent English are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of waste and environmental crime legislation and evidence gathering for legal action.
• Ability to use IT systems for reporting, evidence capture and case management.
• Strong communicator with the public, businesses and partner agencies.
• Calm and resilient in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to reports of fly tipping, littering and waste offences.
• Investigate commercial and residential waste offences.
• Conduct CCTV surveillance and deploy mobile cameras across hotspots.
• Take formal enforcement action, including fixed penalty notices.
• Prepare prosecution files for court proceedings.
• Work with West Yorkshire Police on stop-and-search operations.
• Intercept illegal waste carriers and hold rogue traders to account.
• Disrupt organised waste crime at its source.
• Engage with the public, businesses and partner agencies on environmental offences.
