Front Office Python Engineer – Commodities Desk

Job summary

Tempest Vane Partners in London is seeking an experienced Python Developer for its Commodities desk. You will work as the sole developer, building tooling, infrastructure and models for the desk in a small team with PMs and Quant Researchers.

The role requires strong Python coding experience in finance, plus hands-on experience with data pipelines and modern infrastructure (CI/CD, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes, cloud tech). Office-based in Central London.

Qualifications

• 2.1 degree or higher in Computer Science or similar field from a leading university.
• 5+ years of Python development experience in the financial markets.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying data pipelines.
• Experience using modern infrastructure platforms such as CI/CD, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes and Cloud technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build tooling, infrastructure and models for the Commodities desk.
• Deploy and maintain data pipelines and related tooling.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Quant Researchers to implement front-office solutions.
• Communicate progress and issues clearly to stakeholders.
