Job summary

VirtueTech Recruitment Group is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for a major European energy group’s trading business. The role focuses on building pricing, risk and trade execution systems used by traders daily, with real influence on system design and evolution.

You’ll sit at the heart of the front office alongside quants and traders, delivering production-ready solutions quickly. The role requires senior hands-on C#/.NET development, direct collaboration with traders, and ongoing support

Qualifications

Extensive C# and .NET backend development experience, at principal or senior-plus level.
Recent front office experience in energy trading, ideally within the last 3 years.
Strong Power and Gas experience (candidates from LNG, Oil or wider commodities will also be considered).
Ability to calculate and understand PnL, pricing and risk for energy products.
Proven experience working directly with traders, quants or front office users.
Experience supporting live trading systems and diagnosing PnL discrepancies.

Responsibilities

Build and enhance front office pricing and risk models, working closely with quants to production.
Develop direct trade execution and positioning functionality.
Work primarily on core C# and .NET backend services.
Support the live trading system and investigate PnL discrepancies and issues as they arise.
Partner directly with traders and front office users to understand their needs and deliver solutions.
