Job summary

DFDS in Portsmouth seeks a Freight Operations Co-ordinator to ensure smooth freight movements across Europe. You will handle trailer check-in, vessel loading, customs clearance, and coordinate with port authorities and customers in a hands-on team.

The role requires initiative, reliability and clear communication in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment with emphasis on documentation accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience with customs documentation is advantageous.
• Able to work on your own initiative and be proactive.
• Computer literate and capable of handling multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Check in trailers and vehicles for shipment.
• Prepare vessel loads before arrival and assist with loading/discharging.
• Ensure Dangerous Goods manifests and stowage plans are accurate.
• Communicate via UHF radios during vessel operations.
• Coordinate with authorities to meet safety and compliance standards.
• Verify hazardous materials using Hazcheck.
• Handle customs clearance and ensure documentation is correct.
