MTrec Commercial is partnering with a prestigious client in Tees Valley to recruit an experienced Freight Forwarder. You will plan cost-effective European road freight routes, negotiate transport rates, and manage export/import documentation.

MTrec Commercial are currently supporting our prestigious client on their search for an experienced Freight Forwarder to join their team on a full time and permanent basis. If you have the required experience, then please apply for an immediate response!
Plan and organise the most appropriate and cost‑effective routes for European road freight movements, considering transit times, security, and customer requirements.
Negotiate rates for transport, shipping and handling costs, preparing accurate quotations for customers.
Ensure correct file formation including purchasing, sales, agreements and documentation.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of European trade regulations, customs requirements, fiscal regimes and any political or operational factors affecting freight movement.
Manage correct customs clearance processes for import and export shipments, including documentation and duties.
Build and maintain strong relationships with hauliers, suppliers, internal teams and external customers.
Monitor shipments, identify deviations, and proactively implement solutions or alternatives.
Provide customers with timely and accurate updates, resolving any queries or complaints professionally.
Promote companies wider group capabilities and identify potential opportunities across the business.

Ensure compliance with company HSSQE systems and procedures, prioritising safety and trade compliance at all times.
Be aware of multilateral trade regimes, dual‑use requirements and Know Your Customer red‑flag concerns.

Previous experience in European road freight operations is essential.
Strong understanding of international trade regulations and import/export documentation.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in regulatory compliance areas such as Anti‑Bribery, Anti‑Money Laundering, Restricted Party Screening, sanctions, HS code classification, dual‑use goods, re‑export restrictions, HAZCHEM and recordkeeping (desirable).
Ability to analyse situations, identify issues and implement effective solutions.
Collaborative team player with a positive, professional approach and strong customer focus.
Flexible and adaptable.
Proficient in Microsoft 365.
Ability to write and speak in English.
