Job summary

Kenton Black Limited is seeking a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of civil engineering projects across the region from a Gloucester base. You will manage commercial activities, ensure cost control, and enforce contractual compliance while collaborating with client and supply chain teams.

The role suits an experienced QS with strong NEC contract knowledge, a track record in infrastructure projects, and the ability to work autonomously within a hybrid working

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial reporting.
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and administration.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the region.
Working on a hybrid basis from the Gloucester area, you will be responsible for managing commercial activities throughout the lifecycle of projects, ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance, and effective risk management. You will work closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to drive project success and maximise commercial performance.
This role would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, structures, flood defence, or related sectors.

Experience & Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and administration.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of project cost control and commercial reporting.
• Experience delivering projects within infrastructure, highways, flood alleviation, structures, industrial, or commercial sectors would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently whilst supporting a wider project team.
