Job summary

Kenton Black Limited in Birmingham is seeking an experienced freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial position of a major civil engineering infrastructure project. You will report to the Project Manager or Commercial Manager and manage the commercial aspects of a defined project section.

This role requires strong contractual, commercial, insurance and legal knowledge, experience preparing subcontract tender packages, evaluating returns and placing subcontracts, plus excellent

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience as QS on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
• Experience preparing subcontract tender packages and placing subcontracts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Project Manager or Commercial Manager on the commercial performance of a defined section.
• Develop understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to project contracts.
• Build relationships with the client and representatives to support commercial progression.
• Collaborate with project/delivery teams to develop practical solutions meeting requirements.
• Prepare subcontract tenders, evaluate returns and provide recommendations for appointment.
• Place subcontracts within project timescales.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Provide guidance to commercial staff within the project area when required.
