Job summary

Volunteer It Yourself (VIY) is seeking a Freelance Multi-Trade Construction Mentor to guide and coach vulnerable young people on funded youth projects in South Wales, with a focus on Cardiff and Newport. You will teach practical trades, oversee safety, and help learners pursue City & Guilds accreditations while delivering community build projects.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on multi-trade experience or qualifications (ideally Carpentry and P&D).
• Solid understanding of site management and Health & Safety procedures.
• Mentoring experience preferred but not essential; ability to motivate and guide young people.

Responsibilities

• Mentor & train young people in practical trade skills (Carpentry, P&D).
• Help learners work toward City & Guilds accreditations.
• Deliver community build projects while maintaining hands-on trade work.
• Oversee site Health & Safety for the team and the youth.
