Job Description

As an Investigator, you’ll play a vital role in protecting esure from fraud, working to identify and resolve suspicious cases while minimising financial risk. You’ll handle a diverse caseload, investigating policies flagged by automated systems, intelligence alerts, and customer service teams to uncover potential fraud. Using your keen eye for detail, you’ll conduct in-depth desktop investigations, including database checks and liaising with insurers and banks, as well as telephone interviews with customers. You’ll ensure every case adheres to Data Protection Act standards and regulatory guidelines. This role is perfect for someone eager to make a tangible impact on fraud prevention.

What you’ll do:

  • Evaluate fraud indicators and gather evidence from various sources to prevent fraud.
  • Make decisions on policy cancellations based on gathered evidence and analysis.
  • Respond to inquiries and share accurate information efficiently.
  • Maintain databases for accurate management information (MI) reporting.
  • Share policy fraud ring data with Insight team and Insurance Fraud Bureau.
  • Ensure full compliance with CIFAS rules and Data Protection Act.
  • Support Fraud Prevention Operations Team Leader on projects and improvements.
  • Provide fraud training and manage first-stage complaint calls.
  • Offer feedback on cases and support quality control.
  • Recommend process improvements between Fraud Prevention and other departments.
  • Participate in fraud database user groups to learn about standard methodologies and improvements.

What we’d love you to bring:

  • Sound knowledge of insurance products AND / OR past experience of fraud prevention / investigation in any financial field.
  • Aptitudes should include numeracy, literacy and PC or IT interest / skills.
  • Personal traits include attention to detail, curiosity for information, determination and information gathering.
  • Confidence to be both outspoken and to negotiate.
  • Confidence with Word and Excel.
  • Strong proven track record to communicate verbally or in writing, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work as a self starter and within a team.
