London-based FinTech, Atoa, is currently hiring for a fractional Head of Finance to join its expanding startup team. FCA authorised, and backed by leading names behind the likes of PayPal, Monzo, Xero, and Wise, Atoa allows consumers to pay UK businesses via Bank App. This enables businesses to reduce payment fees by up to 50% and get paid instantly. The fractional Head of Finance will oversee Atoa's Finance function and handle regulatory matters such as safeguarding.

Who you are

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a regulated financial services firm
• In-depth knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and analysis
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws
• Proficiency in financial management software, including TAS, SAGE, and Xero
• Experience in safeguarding customer funds, preferably in an authorized e-money or payment institution
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration
• Experience within a startup environment with a flexible 'can do' approach
• Ideal candidates will come from a financial services background and understand relevant rules and regulations
• Assist the C-Suite in future fundraising efforts

What the job involves

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
• Develop budgets and forecasts; monitor actual performance against these
• Coordinate with external accounting firms for reporting to HMRC and Companies House
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Ensure accurate month-end balance sheet reconciliations
• Provide financial guidance to team members and other departments
• Maintain compliance with financial regulations, standards, and tax laws
• Establish internal controls to safeguard customer funds
• Collaborate on year-end reporting with external accountants
• Salary: £70,000-80,000 p/a, based on experience
