Job Description
London-based FinTech, Atoa, is currently hiring for a fractional Head of Finance to join its expanding startup team. FCA authorised, and backed by leading names behind the likes of PayPal, Monzo, Xero, and Wise, Atoa enables consumers to pay UK businesses via Bank App. This reduces payment fees by up to 50% and allows businesses to get paid instantly. The Head of Finance will oversee Atoa's finance functions and manage regulatory matters such as safeguarding.
Who you are
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a regulated financial services firm.
- Deep knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Proficiency in financial management software such as TAS, SAGE, and Xero.
- Experience in safeguarding customer funds, ideally in an authorized e-money or payment institution.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Experience in a startup environment with a flexible, 'can-do' approach.
- Candidates from a financial services background with a solid understanding of relevant rules and regulations are preferred.
- Ability to assist the C-Suite in future fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Create budgets and forecasts; monitor performance against these budgets.
- Collaborate with external accounting firms to prepare, review, and submit reports to HMRC and Companies House.
- Conduct financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure accurate month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide financial guidance and support to team members and other departments.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
- Establish internal controls to safeguard customer funds.
- Coordinate with external accountants for year-end reporting.
