Job summary

EMBS Technology is seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer in the United Kingdom to join a skilled engineering team. The role spans architecture, requirements capture, final design, verification and testing of high-reliability FPGA systems.

You will work across the FPGA development lifecycle using VHDL, with focus on reliability, security and engineering quality. UK security vetting is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with FPGA design across lifecycle including architecture and requirements capture.
• Designing FPGA modules and verification test benches.
• Producing high-quality design artefacts and documentation.
• Experience with current FPGA tools and development techniques.

Responsibilities

• Architect FPGA systems for new high-reliability products.

UK Security Clearance Required

We're looking for an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team developing advanced, high-reliability products and systems.

This is a hands‑on technical role where you'll work across the FPGA development lifecycle - from architecture and requirements capture through to detailed design, implementation, verification and testing.

You'll be working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team on complex systems where reliability, security and engineering quality are critical.

What you'll be doing

• Architecting FPGA systems for new high-reliability products
• Designing and developing FPGA modules using VHDL
• Taking ownership of requirements capture and detailed design
• Defining and coordinating interfaces between internal and external components
• Developing test-bench modules for verification and validation
• Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical problems
• Producing high‑quality design documentation and engineering artefacts
• Working with current FPGA technologies, development tools and design techniques

What we're looking for

• Experience with ModelSim / QuestaSim
• TCL scripting experience
• Knowledge of current FPGA and SoC technologies
• Experience with the Quartus toolchain
• Version control experience using Git, SVN, CVS or similar
• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or another relevant STEM discipline
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to technical quality

Any experience across the following would be particularly useful

• Verilog or SystemVerilog
• UVM / OSVVM
• Assertion Based Verification
• Cryptographic algorithms
• Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking protocols
• USB 3.2 or NVMe interfaces
• High-speed FPGA technologies
