Job summary

Castings PLC in Brownhills is offering an exciting Technical Support Apprenticeship in the foundry. As an apprentice you will work alongside team leaders and supervisors, gaining hands-on experience in metal sample preparation, hardness testing, spectrometer analyses, and defect checking to ensure industry standards.

Upon successful completion the apprenticeship there will be a full-time position as a supervisor for the foundry section, with relevant training being provided.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (9-4 minimum)

Responsibilities

• Cut, mount, grind, and polish metal samples for microscopic examination.
• Perform hardness tests, tensile test, spectrometer analyses on Iron Samples.
• Check raw materials, molten metal composition, and finished castings for defects to ensure industry compliance.
• Clean, maintain, and calibrate lab instruments like spectrometers and microscopes.
• Record test results and report issues to production and engineering teams.
