Job summary

Dex is partnering with a top-tier venture firm to hire the first dedicated engineering leader for an internal AI platform. You will own the architecture and product direction, collaborating directly with partners to implement ML-driven capabilities and scalable systems.

You will shape how the firm identifies the next generation of founders by building end-to-end AI tooling, APIs, and data pipelines, with significant autonomy and impact in a high-growth environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering.
• Proven experience integrating APIs (CRMs, calendars, data platforms) and working with LLMs/AI-enabled workflows.
• Built products from zero to production with significant autonomy, ideally in an early-stage setting.
• Strong backend system design and data architecture skills including data scraping and structuring.
• Solid understanding of security and compliance for internal systems handling sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Integrate disparate tools and external APIs into a unified AI platform.
• Automate data ingestion and CRM updates from unstructured text and notes.
• Develop meeting intelligence workflows extracting actions and context from transcripts.
• Define platform architecture and roadmap from concept to production.

The role

This is a top-tier early-stage venture firm, with a 15-year track record of identifying and backing companies that went on to define their industries. Their investment and talent teams operate globally, but manual coordination across their diverse toolset has become a bottleneck. This role exists to solve that. You are the firm's first dedicated engineering hire, building an internal AI platform end-to-end. This is a founding, high-ownership seat: you'll own the architecture and product direction, working directly with partners to build the ML layer that gives them a competitive edge. This isn't a narrow feature-build; it's about shaping how a leading firm identifies the next generation of founders.

The work

• Integrate disparate internal tools and external APIs (CRM, calendar, data platforms, LLMs) into a unified AI platform.
• Automate data ingestion and CRM updates from unstructured text (deal memos, meeting notes).
• Develop meeting intelligence workflows, extracting actions and relationship context from transcripts.
• Define the platform's architecture and product roadmap, from concept to production.
• Build and deploy predictive ML models for founder identification, market timing, and portfolio risk, leveraging proprietary data.

What You Bring

• 5+ years in software engineering, with strong Python across backend, automation, and AI workflows. You're comfortable across the full stack.
• Proven experience integrating APIs (CRMs, calendars, data platforms) and hands-on work with LLMs, agents, or AI-enabled workflows.
• You've taken products from zero to production with significant autonomy, ideally in an early-stage setting.
• Strong backend system design and data architecture skills, including data scraping and structuring.
• A strong understanding of security and compliance for internal systems handling sensitive data.
