Job summary

Apple Inc. in London is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Apple Services Engineering (ASE) group. You will help scale FoundationDB infrastructure across data centers and cloud regions, ensuring high availability for iCloud, Siri, and Maps.

You will work with Go, Java, and Python, automate operations, and collaborate with development teams to deliver robust, scalable services in a global production environment.

Qualifications

• Ownership and integrity demonstrated through clear communication and collaboration.
• Experience in managing and scaling distributed systems in cloud environments.
• Ability to design, author, and release code in Go, Java or Python.
• Drive to automate manual operations and improve them through iteration.
• Understanding of Linux and networking basics.
• Hands-on experience with configuration management or software delivery platforms (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Spinnaker).
• Experience deploying, supporting and monitoring services and stacks.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with scale testing, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration with Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Our team is responsible for provisioning, managing, and monitoring FoundationDB in production across multiple regions and control planes (bare-metal, AWS, and Kubernetes). We develop much of our own automation in Java and Go, including our open source Kubernetes Operator.
