Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a part-time Training Officer to design and deliver a high-quality training programme for Foster Carers and Supported Lodgings Hosts, ensuring it meets identified needs within budget constraints.

You will work with the Fostering Service, identify development needs through consultation, commission courses, maintain records in Mosaic, and monitor quality to inform the annual training plan.

Qualifications

  • Have an NVQ level 3 in Childcare Diploma or Childcare Qualification, or evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of working directly with challenging children and young people, and vulnerable young people in at least one relevant setting.
  • Knowledge of child development, differing needs, and trauma-related risk factors.
  • Understanding of the impact of trauma on development, behaviour and relationships.
  • Strong time management, organisational and planning, assessment, IT and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with children, young people and carers; work independently and in a team; engage with other agencies; and maintain records.
  • Ability to undertake administrative tasks and maintain effective recording systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify training and development needs of Foster carers and Supported Lodgings hosts through regular consultation.
  • Commission suitable and appropriate training within the budget.
  • Maintain accurate information regarding training commissioned and related invoice progression.
  • Encourage carers to engage and access training via 1 to 1 support, locality group meetings and home visits.
  • Support Foster carers and Supported Lodgings hosts access to all training platforms.
  • Work closely with Thrive colleagues in Learning & Development.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of training packages and produce the annual training program.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of training and ensure training activity is recorded on mosaic.
  • Provide data for the annual report and complete actions within timescales.
  • Liaise with management, social workers, carers to ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
