Job summary

Swiis Foster Care is seeking a dedicated Fostering Supervising Social Worker for a permanent role based in Birmingham and the West Midlands. You will supervise a caseload of foster carers, ensure safe and nurturing homes, and deliver high-quality supervision visits as part of our frontline support.

You will work with local authorities to update care plans and risk assessments, participate in out-of-hours rota, and contribute to training and carer development.

• Supporting foster carers to evidence their competencies and complete TSD workbooks.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with local authorities to meet children’s needs.
• Ensuring care plans, placement plans, PEPs and pathway plans are up-to-date.
• Completing individual risk assessments and safe caring plans.
• Maintaining accurate case recordings within required timeframes.
• Ensuring compliance with all regulations and child safeguarding procedures.
• Attending relevant meetings, activities and events to support children and foster carers.

Responsible To: Registered/Deputy Manager

As a Supervising Social Worker with Swiis, you will work closely with foster carers to ensure safe, nurturing, stable foster families for children and young people. This is a varied, rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Core responsibilities include:

Support & Supervision

• 1. Managing and supervising a caseload of foster carers.
• 2. Ensuring homes provide safe and nurturing environments.
• 3. Delivering high-quality supervision, guidance, and support visits.
• 4. Assisting foster carers to evidence their competencies and complete TSD workbooks.
• 5. Supporting annual foster carer reviews and presenting to panel.
• 6. Identifying training needs and contributing to workshops and support groups.
• 7. Helping foster carers prepare young people for semi-independent or independent living.
• 8. Participating in the Out-of-Hours rota.

Safeguarding & Care Planning

• 1. Working closely with local authorities to meet children’s needs.
• 2. Ensuring care plans, placement plans, PEPs and pathway plans are up-to-date.

Administration & Compliance

• 1. Maintaining accurate, GDPR-compliant records.
• 2. Managing all documentation, reporting and database tasks effectively.
• 3. Ensuring timely processing of incidents and notifications.

• 4. Driving responsibilities where applicable (vehicle upkeep, safety, insurance, etc.).
