Harrington Starr is partnering with a leading financial technology firm to hire a Forward Deployed Engineering Lead for a New York hybrid setup (3 days onsite). The role combines client-facing delivery, hands-on coding with C# and Python, and ownership of engineering standards in a rapidly growing function.

You will lead a client-facing pod, mentor engineers, and drive delivery excellence while aligning technology with business outcomes and client expectations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in financial services technology.
• Strong hands-on experience with C# and/or Python, data platforms and cloud-native technology.
• Strong understanding of the full trade lifecycle across front, middle and back office.
• Proven experience delivering complex, client-facing technology projects.
• Previous technical leadership experience, including mentoring and developing engineers.
• Experience working with asset managers, asset owners or asset servicing organisations is highly desirable.
• Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Interest in applying AI and LLM tooling to improve engineering delivery and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a client-facing engineering pod, combining technical delivery, team leadership and commercial ownership.
• Maintain a hands-on role while shaping delivery standards, processes and best practices.
• Grow and shape a newly formed engineering function within the client engagement.
• Partner with clients to align technical delivery with business outcomes and risk controls.
