Job summary

Almac Group in Craigavon, UK, is seeking a Formulation Development Technical Leader to deliver high-quality formulation development projects. You will manage a balanced portfolio, provide hands-on scientific input and oversee team activities to meet client timelines, budgets and regulatory expectations.

The role requires a PhD or equivalent in Life Science or Engineering, proven GMP development experience, and strong client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or PhD (or equivalent) in a Life Science or Engineering discipline.
• Proven track record in developing drug product formulations and processes for early to late phase pharmaceutical development.
• Significant hands-on experience in pharmaceutical development, GMP manufacturing and packaging processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Formulation Development projects and manage a balanced portfolio.
• Provide hands-on scientific input and oversee team activities to meet client timelines and budgets.
• Ensure CMC activities are completed in line with regulatory expectations and current cGMP standards.
• Act as a technical expert and guide Formulation Development Scientists to ensure correct scientific direction.

The Role:

We are recruiting for a Formulation Development Technical Leader to take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality Formulation Development projects. In this role, you will manage a balanced portfolio of development projects, providing both hands‑on scientific input and oversight of team activities to ensure work is delivered in line with agreed client timelines, budgets and regulatory expectations.

You will support project delivery through regular internal and external project engagement, take responsibility for the quality of scientific outputs from Formulation Development studies, and ensure CMC activities are completed in accordance with current regulatory and cGMP standards. Acting as a technical expert within the team, you will also provide guidance and support to Formulation Development Scientists, helping to ensure projects follow the correct scientific direction and meet client requirements.

What you will need to be successful:

• Eligibility to work in the UK OR possess a valid work permit that will allow you to take up full time, permanent employment in the UK.
• Bachelor’s Degree or PhD (or equivalent) in a Life Science or Engineering discipline.
• A proven track record in developing drug product formulations and processes suitable for phase I, II and III stages of pharmaceutical development.
• Significant hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical development, GMP manufacturing and packaging processes.
• Experience in dealing with clients and presenting on technical topics related to scientific experiments and supporting business development activities.
