Job description

Position Overview: As a Formulation Chemist, you will support technical activities at Lankem by generating application test data on our innovative surfactant products and providing ideas for further development. You will be expected to work with a high level of independence, reporting to the Technical Manager while utilising your industry knowledge to tailor or generate new formulations and procedures as required. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on bench chemist with industrial experience in the Personal Care and Cosmetics sectors with Home Care experience being useful.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulation, Quality Control and applications testing of Lankem surfactant products
• Understanding of COSHH and a commitment to Health, Safety and Quality
• Documentation of test methods and results, and open discussion of these with the Technical Manager and the wider team to support continued innovation
• Chemical ordering, inventory administration and laboratory housekeeping as required
• Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a science related field
• Proven experience in an industrial chemist role, preferably with a focus on surfactants in Personal or Home Care formulations
• Strong understanding of formulation and applications testing techniques
• Experience with analytical equipment such as HPLC and GC would be advantageous
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in using technical software and tools relevant to the chemical industry

Hours: 42 Hours PW. 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 4:00pm Friday.
