Job summary

Randstad UK is recruiting for a Forklift Operator/ Supersack Operator at a leading manufacturing site in Thurrock. The role offers a rotating 12-hour shift pattern with day and night cycles and a direct path to longer-term opportunities.

You will move materials, discharge product at the supersack station, log activities, and strictly follow safety procedures while maintaining accurate shift records.

Qualifications

• Valid in-date counterbalance Forklift licence accredited by RTITB or ITSSAR.
• Minimum 1 year+ experience operating PPTs and overhead hoists/lifting equipment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 20kg and operate forklift equipment during a 12-hour shift.
• Industrial environment exposure with chemicals, noise, and strong scents.
• High attention to detail with basic PC literacy and legible handwriting for logging.

Responsibilities

• Operate Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) and PPT to move materials, bags, and pallets.
• Run supersack charging station using hoists to discharge product into production hoppers.
• Scan products with handheld devices, maintain shift logs, label bags, verify training requirements.
• Wear PPE at all times and follow safety standards; report hazards or near misses.
• Follow site policies, including secure handling of company systems and terminals.

Pay Rate: £19.42 per hour (inclusive of shift allowance)

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (06:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 06:00)

4-week repeating continental pattern (mix of day and night shifts, including scheduled rest days)

Key Responsibilities

• Material Movement & Staging: Safely operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) and Powered Pallet Truck (PPT) to transfer materials, bulk bags, and pallets between storage, conveyors, and production stations.
• Station Operation: Run the supersack charging station using hoists and lifting gear to discharge product into production hoppers for beads-making operations.
• Quality & Logging: Scan products with handheld devices, accurately maintain shift logs, label bags correctly, and verify C-rank operational training requirements.
• Safety & Standards: Conduct routine equipment inspections, maintain a clean operating area, report hazards or near misses immediately, and wear mandatory PPE at all times (including required hearing protection).
• Internal Controls: Follow all site compliance policies, including the secure handling of company systems and business terminals.

Required & Desired Qualifications

• Valid in-date counterbalance Forklift licence accredited by RTITB or ITSSAR.
• Minimum 1 year + experience operating Powered Pallet Trucks (PPT) and overhead hoists/lifting equipment is highly advantageous but not essential.
• Physical capability to lift up to 20kg and mount/dismount forklift equipment comfortably throughout a 12-hour shift.
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment involving chemicals, production noise, and strong scents.
• High attention to detail with basic PC literacy and legible handwriting for logging and error reporting.
