Job summary

Kingston Barnes Ltd is seeking a forklift and machine operator for a manufacturing site in Bridgwater. The role entails moving raw materials, operating machinery, and supporting machinists with tooling changes.

Ideally you hold a forklift licence or have experience operating forklifts. Hours are 7am–7pm, 4 on/4 off, with pay at £12.25 per hour plus £3.31 shift premium and potential progression to setter or machine operator.

Qualifications

• FLT License ideally – an element of the role will be on the FLT.
• Manufacturing experience ideal or maybe warehousing.
• Basic Mechanical knowledge (not necessarily qualifications) i.e. use a spanner, what way a chain would go round, able to identify basic machine problems.
• Understanding of health and safety – it can be a very dangerous department with all the rollers and pinch points etc so working with this before would be helpful.
• More physical role, dealing with reject materials and loading into recycling.
• This is the level down from the setter which operating granulators and support the extrusion lines with opportunity to progress up to setter.

Responsibilities

• Complying with the requirements of the site Health & Safety Policy, Health & Safety Arrangements manual.
• Adherence and promotion of quality and hygiene arrangements in all relevant areas ensuring a clean and safe working environment is maintained.
• Managing raw materials and ensure its available for production requirements.
• Managing waste products i.e. Regrind and purge material.
• Operating ancillary equipment i.e. Grinders, Colour sorter and de-lamintor ensuring clean and in good working order.
• Servicing of all lines in the factory.
• Quality assurance of products and complete any associated documentation.
• This list is not exhaustive and you will be required to carry out other duties within your trained capabilities.
• Effectively supporting the extrusion operators getting the materials ready and tool changes ready to set the machine.
• Usually people in this role move into an operator role when they are able to do the job and one becomes available

Hours and package

• Working 7am to 7pm/7pm to 7am 4 on, 4 off, rotational
• £12.25 per hour plus £3.31 shift premium (salaried but paid weekly) based on average weekly hours 42 hours per week) = £33,983.04
• 4 on 4 days and nights – 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. x 4, 4 off, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. x 4, 4 off
