Job summary

SSE is seeking a Forestry Manager (Compensatory Planting) to lead planning, design and delivery of planting across a portfolio of transmission projects in Scotland. You will work from development to delivery, ensuring woodland commitments are met safely and within budget, with a focus on environmental requirements and stakeholder collaboration.

The role offers flexible first options and requires location in Inverness, Aberdeen or Perth, with a strong emphasis on forestry expertise and project

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience of forestry management, woodland creation and planting scheme design and delivery.
• Understanding of the UK Forestry Standard and compensatory planting requirements.
• Experience supporting environmental and consent processes linked to forestry work.
• Experience working with landowners, contractors and authorities through design to delivery.
• Relevant HND/degree in forestry or land management, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design and delivery of compensatory planting across projects.
• Develop planting proposals, woodland management plans and forestry project activity.
• Identify planting opportunities and manage forestry risks.
• Provide forestry input across the project lifecycle from assessment to aftercare.
• Build relationships with internal teams, landowners and contractors.
