Job summary

Athona Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity for a Forensic Psychologist in Chesterfield. This role involves joining a multidisciplinary team to provide psychological assessments and interventions for male patients with mental health needs.

You will deliver both individual and group therapy sessions, adapting treatments based on patient needs. The ideal candidate will hold a recognised postgraduate qualification and have current HCPC registration.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for HCPC registration with a recognised postgraduate qualification.
  • Current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist required.
  • Experience in forensic or low secure mental health services is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Manage a caseload and communicate effectively.

Job description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Forensic Psychologist to join a low secure service supporting 12 male patients with mental health needs. You will play a key role within a multidisciplinary team, providing psychological assessment and interventions to support patient recovery, whilst promoting dignity, respect and high standards of care.

Salary: £50,500 per annum
Position: Forensic Psychologist
Hours: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week, flexibility available
Setting: Low Secure Mental Health
Location: Heath, Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Conduct timely psychological assessments following referrals and develop person-centred treatment plans.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions tailored to patient needs and therapeutic goals.
  • Manage an assigned caseload, maintaining effective communication with patients and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and care planning.
  • Adapt psychological interventions and activities according to individual patient needs.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records and work within agreed timescales.
  • Promote dignity, respect and high standards of patient care.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • A recognised postgraduate qualification leading to eligibility for HCPC registration.
  • Current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experience or interest in working within forensic or low secure mental health services.
  • Ability to deliver effective individual and group psychological interventions.
  • BPS registration is desirable.
