Forensic Nurse or Paramedic - Guildford - Custody
  • £1500 sign-on bonus (pro-rata for part-time)
  • £500 referral bonus for healthcare professional referrals
  • We will pay £120 NMC registration fees per year
  • We will pay £98.12 HCPC registration fees per year

Mountain Healthcare is looking for passionate, determined, and resilient individuals to join as Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals.

Main duties of the job
  • Perform forensic sampling, including blood tests for road traffic offences
  • Signpost, refer, and support vulnerable patients to break re-offending patterns
  • Deliver substance misuse therapies
  • Assess and care for detainees and staff in custody suites
  • Promote good personal healthcare
  • Collaborate with Liaison and Diversion teams to identify mental health needs

Job responsibilities

This role is suitable for RGN or qualified Paramedics with 3+ years' post-qualification experience. Custody environments are dynamic, with detainees held for up to 24 hours, requiring high-quality care for various needs, from substance dependency to acute medical issues. Our professionals are trained to collect forensic samples to assist investigations. Experience in forensics is not necessary; training will be provided to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner. The role offers a 4-on-4-off rota, providing predictable work-life boundaries, with shifts of two days, two nights, then four days off. Positions are available full-time and part-time, based at Guildford Police Custody Suite. Early interviews are possible, so apply promptly.

Qualifications
  • Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic
Experience
  • At least 3 years' post-qualification experience
  • Experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prison, or as a Paramedic Practitioner is advantageous

This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
