Job Description

Forensic and Investigation Services (FIS) at Grant Thornton is a multi-disciplinary team that provides dispute resolution, contentious valuations, cyber, digital forensic, and financial crime services. We collaborate with UK and international teams on asset tracing, insolvency, economic consulting, regulatory matters and transactions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main client contact for quantum and valuation engagements.
• Quantify the financial impact of alleged breaches of contract or duty, including lost profits, diminution in value, and business interruption losses across commercial disputes.
• Advise on transaction disputes such as post‑acquisition disputes, warranty and indemnity claims, and expert determinations.
• Prepare and review contentious business valuations for litigation, arbitration and other dispute resolution proceedings.
• Develop financial models and analyses, and explain conclusions clearly in both verbal and written formats.
• Produce expert witness reports for courts, arbitration tribunals, regulatory enquiries and other proceedings.
• Manage, develop, and coach team members across quantum and valuation workstreams.
• Collaborate with legal teams, corporate finance colleagues, economists and other specialists in a multidisciplinary approach.
• Contribute to proposals, business development, and marketing activities, including building relationships with law firms and in‑house legal teams.
• Potentially undertake international travel as part of dispute work.

Qualifications

• Professional experience managing quantum or valuation engagements within a professional services firm, boutique forensics practice or valuation house.
• Strong analytical mindset with critical assessment of financial information and close attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, with experience building and reviewing financial models.
• Experience drafting expert witness reports and/or expert determinations in the context of quantum or valuation disputes.
• Familiarity with valuation methodologies (DCF, market multiples, net assets) and their application in contentious contexts.
• Experience managing teams in delivering disputes or valuation workstreams.
• Flexibility to work across a range of industries, sectors and dispute types.
• Ability and enthusiasm to develop relationships with professionals at clients and instructing law firms.
