Job summary

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust in Wakefield is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist (22.5 hours weekly) to join the All-Age Forensic Community Service. You will conduct specialist OT assessments, develop care plans, and support transition for service users into community settings.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, promoting OT within the service and ensuring high-quality, person-centred care. The role requires flexible hours and driving to field sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions relevant to mental health.
  • Extensive clinical practice including individual and group work.
  • Understanding of occupational therapy outcome measures.
  • Ability to work autonomously and set own priorities.
  • Supervisory/appraisal skills.
  • Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.
  • Organise and respond efficiently to complex information.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Detailed knowledge of mental health/learning disabilities legislation and current practice including policy drivers.
  • Detailed knowledge of clinical governance and its application.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive specialist OT assessments & risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver on individualized OT plans of care to support the recovery journey.
  • Be enthusiastic about this service user group and motivated to support change and transition needs of individuals.
  • Be able to work autonomously and collaboratively with other agencies to make clinical judgements.
  • Be thoughtful and resilient in the way you engage with a MDT.
  • Have strong engagement skills with service users, family, friends and carers.
