Job summary

West Yorkshire Police in Wakefield is recruiting a Forensic Assistant based at Calder Park. The role involves providing administrative support for forensic samples and maintaining accurate case records across multiple systems, including LEDS and Socrates.

The successful candidate will handle inquiries, manage exhibits related to fingerprints and footwear, and maintain stock for test processes. The role requires vetting and is not suitable for homeworking, with job share considered.

• Experience with LEDS, Socrates, Digital Fingerprint Capability and Microsoft packages.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive administrative support function for receipt and return of forensic samples.
• Use, interrogate and update information on systems including LEDS, Socrates, Digital Fingerprint Capability and Microsoft packages.
• Check computerised systems to ensure accurate case records and report any anomalies.
• Handle inquiries to update stakeholders or processing persons of interest requests.
• Be responsible for destruction and recording of exhibits related to fingerprints and footwear.
• Perform administrative tasks for control, ordering and handling of stationery and consumables for test processes.
• Subject to management level vetting before full appointment.
• Role not suitable for homeworking; job share considered.
